Colin Mosely is an animator and interactive artist who creates immersive installations where participants are invited to act, respond, and contemplate the invisible lines entangling animals, plants, fungi, and minerals. Due to the humanist ideals of exceptionalism and individualism, we often disregard these connections and maintain a strong belief in our bodies as non porous, self-contained, and self-reliant entities.
Through his art practice, Mosely debunks such misconceptions and unveils the interdependence of seemingly unrelated species or materials. He thinks of borders not only in terms of physical thresholds between bodies but also in terms of psychological and cognitive limitations that prevent us from understanding our interdependent relation to others.
Mosely received a MA from the University of Missouri Kansas City and a BFA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He currently works and lives in Chicago, IL.
